I only get the crazy looks, that's what I get for going out with a full face spongebob on!!
Yeah - what we take for granted is something special/unusual out there in the world.

I just have my 9 yr old daughter do it. I think my kit was 25 or so, and I just have her pay me about 15% of what she makes so she can learn how to do business.
I like the stencils, I feel like the crisp lines are nice and perfect and it takes just as long to draw a design on the arm then do the glitter.
I only offer them when I am at a slow place, or my daughter is there, because I still think that I can make more money just face painting instead of moving back and forth between the two.
I do offer it at parties since I have a one hour min, and if they only have 10 guests at the party, I just say that makes time to all get a glitter tattoo and face paint, so that I am not being paid to do nothing for the other 40 min, after I am done painting the 10 kids. From a marketing point of view these things last a few days so that means more time for people to ask where they got it when they go to school/church/clubs/shopping with the glitter tat on.

The one I like is Revlon Color Stay in Black-- writes like a fine marker--but doesn't smear all over I'm so disappointed. I used Revlon Black Color Stay, easily drew a design on my friend, painted on the glue, added glitter, Voila - looked good. But she said that the eyeliner smeared all over the place and did not look good the next day. Lol - maybe I'll try a Sharpie next time. No. Really. I want to draw a dark outline and fill in my own pictures. Any other ideas?

Am I stoopid??? I'm a Face-Painter! I'll paint the outline with Face-Paint. Ummm, no - that won't last a few days - as a 'temporary tattoo'. I need help.
Maybe, um, maybe if I paint glue Over the black eyeliner.... No - then the glitter would cover up the line. I need help.

Try out your different ideas on yourself and then you'll see how it fairs. Just an idea.

I'm still in the dreaming state for glitter tattoos. Seeing the unoutlined arrow that's been on my arm for several days already and Cat's post, I got a different idea about glitter tattoos - that they don't necessarily need an outline afterall.
Before that, I was creating in a vacuum. A vague idea. Actually, I think I was envisioning arm-cuffs perhaps in the style of the stained-glass face-painting that Mandi had submitted to the Contest. Being an artist, ideas sort of mix together...
Now I really want to get a kit with all the glitters. Bummed - because I'm thinking about the park that I applied to this year - the one where they said I'd have to be doing everything for 'donations only'. It would have been a good way to start a new venture if I was charging for stuff.
If I get real colors, I'll probably give up on my idea of Needing an outline. Still will get it, but I have no idea when I'll be using it.

Hmm, I really don't get the 'outline' thing, must be a USA thing As far as I was ever concerned, the whole point is sparkly pretty strong colours - ok pale stuff for brides/ girls, but the glue gives the glitter a neat edge anyway and unless you outline in temp tatt ink the outline will make the tatt wear off faster anyway, won't it? You could always do your main colours then add MORE glue and do a 2nd - would take loner & TBH I just poof on all the colours and shade that way. Experiment bet you'll like it. Cat x

Has anyone found anything good for small lines and detail stuff for applying the glue? I was using a bottle and a really fine metal needle/tip. It works pretty well, but it clogs almost immed. Found anything better?

I haven't used them yet, but I hear they have things called 'dotters' or 'detailers' where you buy glitter?

I have some bottles that sound like this that I received from my Secret Santa recently. I might try this out today. If I do, I'll post some pics.

I got pretty big this year into glitter tats. I have been drawing and cutting out my very own! YES CUTTING THEM OUT ahhhhh and it kills my index finger! I just put a very very large order into FAKETOOS but here is my question, does anyone use a circut to make srencils? I was told that it would not work for making tattooos, it is for scrapbooking? What are your thoughts? And if you do use one, which one would you sugguest to purchase. I don't know how benifical one would be to me. Thanks for your help and thoughts

I haven't tried it, but have heard many people rave about it... I think you need a software addon, like "Sure Cuts A Lot". I did hear one person complain that unless you're good with editing Vector files, then the Cricut machine isn't good for making you're own tattoos... no detail maybe?

If you want to be able to offer them in your area, but are concerned about the large investment you can do what I do. They haven't caught on for me yet, but I still like to advertise them in hopes that they will. I bought one thing of glimmer glue, cut eight stencils from stencil paper thatIi toss in alcohol after each use and bought $0.99 glitter from Sally's beauty supply. I've lasted over a year on just using this set-up. The total investment was around $12.

Whitney,
I like the way you stretch a dollar. Maybe I'll try the glitter tats too!
