I made mine on VistaPrint too. We have regular Biz Cards for Da Bounce and then I hand these ones out with all my Glitter Tattoos.

Thanks Vi! I love this template too. I just needed something simple to hand out as I went along. I've found because they are so colorful the kids pick one up just because they like the way it looks LOL! I had 3 glitter tattoo parties this weekend and handed out a TON of these cards...so hopefully we'll get some more bookings soon.

I design my own and use http://www.print100.com/global/cgi/main.aspx as they were local to me IN HK and did a really cheap deal - plus I like that matt lamination and stickers etc they did me to match. I like it that they are full colour front AND back, most in the Uk charge a fortune for that. My latest cards are; (front then back for bodypaint www) and I much prefer my old rainbow face cards, but left the back bottom blank as I wasn't sure if I'd be moving to the EU So could write new numbers on the white. And wanted to change my fave old pics from the front...but might go back to them! Tho would still have to remove spiderman, just in case Disney follow through...BTW the rainbow matches my kit/ tyedye fairy costume.... Cat x

Okay, you all have inspired me! Here are the cards I recently ordered from vistaprint. I did the bifold card so I could use it as a marketing piece with an incentive also. here's the outside front of card: Here's the inside of the card: Here's the outside back of the card: The initials are for the location or event where I leave them at i.e. mmw for motherhood maternity west. although I did a completely different card for baby bump paintings. same concept though.

How far out do you normally put the expiration date?

I've started with 6 months. We'll see how it goes....If anything I will shorten it to create "urgency".....

you just hand them out or do you give them to those whom you've booked a referral party?

I've done both. My gig last Saturday (which was not discounted) I showed them to the mom who booked me and explained I would be giving her guests a gift. She loved it! She even asked for extras so that she could give them to people at work. I have them out at the party stores who thankfully have agreed to put them at the cash registers. I have also put them up on a couple of bulletin boards. As I have more time, I intend on having them everywhere lol. (cake stores, toy stores, whomever will have them ;o) I just figured it would be easier to start with my intended rate and offer a coupon rather than starting at a lower rate and then going up. Also, who doesnt love a coupon or "saving $$". I have had several parties at my "full price"...so it's worked out well.

I have two sided business cards (I'll post a photo another time) and am contemplating other printed materials: • door hangers with perforated bus. card? • letterhead to send letters on? • double sided post cards? • brochure?
Other than handing out business cards at events and etc., I have been working on marketing myself to bigger businesses: race tracks, hotels, restaurants, hospitals etc.
I am trying to decide what would they prefer to receive? • A letter describing my services with a business card? • A letter with brochure? • just a 2 sided post card with a note on it?
What do you think? I don't want to spend the funds to get ALL of the items printed. I just want the most effective media for my buck. HELP!!!

I typed up a letter with a few pictures on it to introduce myself. I DO NOT send them into the mail, they seem to get thrown away as junk mail! I dress up, paint my face and go in person and hand out my goods! I have gotten lots and lots of gigs this way. Also if I am bored I paint my face to go grocery shopping, with a pocket full of business cards! I do three race track gigs, with no fees to the track! Just talk and barter! I never pay the full price of an event that charges a set fee, I offer 10% of my total earnnings! Tell them, you have nothing to put on a table and sell to the customers and put there goods into a bag! You are not a crafter you are an artist, therefore you must sell your ability as a professional artist. Think out what you want to say before meeting with the owners of businessess! Normally they will see it your way. If not just say thank you and leave them your flyer or letter of introduction. Keep a list of who you visit and talk to, revisit them in 6 months. My local paper will come and take pictures of me working and interview me, with all my information on my services offered and print a great story on in the newspaper, FOR FREE! Just call your local paper and talk to the editor to set up your date and time of your event. I DO NOT pay to have adds ran in local papers, they are too costly. Just do some leg work.

I couldnt agree more. The 3 public bookings I have had have been the result of a simple phone call or email from me. As with any business, a (simple, effective and attractive) marketing piece is nice and needed, but the most important component is direct contact. Mass mailings rarely work....for any business.
