Well I finished up mending the canopy to my ez up tent today. Hubby came home from work and worked on the frame. every piece that conected together with a screw broke in half.  He had some medal round poles in the garage that he has had for years (he's a packrat) he cut them into 10 inch pieces, sliped the tube onto the two halves, pinched the tube, drilled the hole and replaced the screw and washers, then he drilled two holes on both side of each medal piece and put two pop rivets on both sides. there was 23 joints that had to be fixed one made it threw the storm without bending! 115 holes drilled, 92 pop rivets, then came the test!  we closed it up to see if it would work?  Yes it did! and we opened it and it worked! yes it did!   Tomorrow he will finish putting in the rest of the pop rivets and tighten all the screws up, attach the top and it will be good to go on Friday!  I am going to spray paint the silver tubes that he put on my frame white tomorrow!  Don't want to look too cobbled up!  Need to look a little professional!  So all in all I think I can make it last at least five more years!  If the storms will stay home!

We are off to our summer (psuedo) camping resort. Mom's parkside trailer has AC, so it is wuss camping at best. Just the way I like it.

On Sunday, I am doing the Arts and Craft show there. Since they wanted tangible crafts at my booth with my face painting, I have about 60 ornaments to be sold. It's Christmas in JULY! It's the plaster ornaments that you paint. Don't care if any sell, they'll make great Christmas gifts.

Made my signs and got some 8 x 10s of my fp designs to display. I'm charging $5, $7 and $9 for different designs. This is my FIRST real ppf gig, so I am a bit nervous. I already paid for the next show on Labor Day, so I'll be a seasoned professional by then. It is sooo much easier when I get paid per hour, but I guess there is a chance for some serious cash to be made.

Thanks for all the advice. I will post pix when we get back in a week! Happy Fourth! Grin

Sounds fun Wina.  I hope you do well!

BTW, I love painting those plaster ornaments.  I did those as a fun Christmas activity with my kids a few years in a row, so we have those nice reminders each year when we put up the tree.  Smiley

So your mom will be with you at the event?  I'm always bummed that I don't normally have friends or family along for my events and it seems like most of the other vendors do.

weekend four of ren faire completed!  And great news! Dry weekend!  But it was a little slower than I thought it would be! Here is a couple pics from Sunday.  The first pic was the BOYS!  They were best friends, 7 years old and DEVILS! They never sat still! Was so glad to finish them and send them on their way. When I finished painting them, they sat in the same chair, and while I was washing my hands they thought they were monsters and screamed right in my face! ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR! Parents laughed, I was pisted, but I made them re act their sceen so I could take a picture and quickly said GOOD BYE! Have a great day! This morning my left ear feels plugged! Boys!

Great job with your little moving targets Gina!  On the bright side, you got a great photo for your troubles...  the second photo that is.  On the first photo your art looks wonderful, but your models look bored and annoyed.  Grin   I get so many photos like that where the kids just do not look happy.

Last night was an amazing chain of events.  Last week I painted at the Johnson County Fair in Iowa City, IA.  A lady picked up my card and noticed I was from the same town as she.  This Monday I got a call from her... her daughter (age 13) and a couple of her girlfriends were going to a masquerade ball at one of the local country clubs... and could I paint fancy masks on the girls to go with their dresses?  Sure I can!  So yesterday I showed up at their home about 4:30... painted the girls and chatted a bit with the mom.  I had no more than gotten home and the phone rang.  Apparently in the time it took for me to drive home... the girls had showed up at the club.  Also apparently the Event Planner for the club was very impressed with the girls masks.  Anyway... when I answered the phone... it was the Event Planner... and she asked if I could come right away and paint all the other kids at the dance?  YOU BET I CAN!!!  Wheeeeeee!!!!!  The evening was a blast... the kids were really fun and both the girls AND the boys got their faces painted.  I only wish I had my camera along... but I'd left in such a hurry I forgot it.  But the up shot of it all was at the end of the evening the Event Planner said she would definitely have me back for more events. YEAAAAAA!!!!  Not a bad crowd to get in with in this town. Shocked)

way to go! So very proud of you and I know the clients loved it!

I am starting weekend five tomorrow at the ren faire. The last weekend for this faire. Than on Monday I start a county fair that will last for 6 days, 10 hours each day, this will be ruff on me!  On Sunday nites after the long ren faire of sat and sunday I am no good on Monday! Tired old bones! Off two weeks and then right back to ren faires for 6 weekends!  If you ever have a chance to paint at ren faires, do not pass it up! It has been a wonderful ride for face painting and glitter tattoos over the past 10 weeks. I am booked for all of them next year already, and amazing pay!  I do a ppf charge at ren faires, and it has been wonderful.

thank you Mollie, my new discovery!  I use  DFX mettalic white under any color and it makes the top color sparkle, I am in love with this way of painting! It puts a pop to the face painting I think!
I have been really busy with gigs, haven't had much time to chat on this amazing forum, so sorry!

Finished nine weekends of ren Faires last week then started on 6 days of fair painting, 10 hours aday.
Aug 20th - a birthday party
Aug 21st - two birthday parties that day
Aug 22nd - four hours of straight non stop painting for a child's cancer benifit, donated my labor and time, just painted for tips and made over $600 in my jar! donated half back to the kids.
Aug 24th - painted for three hours at a juvenial home.  got paid very well and made a$100 bill as a tip!
and Aug 26th - I have my own group for sexual assault victims - this is a 10 hour gig and last year we had over 500 kids show up! ugggggg! gonna do it different this year! Taking all my full face pictures out of the choices, just gonna do small masks and eye art for the gals.  My 19 year old Krista takes the day off from work to come and help me paint on this gig! she paints almost like I do just a little bit slower. Received three phone calls today for birthday party booking for next week!
