The one I am doing in May the last two weekends, the vendor fee is $500 total for both weekends, but I am doing a 10% of total sales, so I will let you know what I make.  And the five weekend one that starts July 12th is vendor fee of $1500, but I am also doing 10% of total sales on that one too.  I expect to make more at the July one rather than the May one, there is much much more persons in attendance from what I have heard.

May 15th - 9am to 1pm!  My painting partner Anna and I are doing The Howard Hill Hussle tomorrow!  It is a family run from 7am to 9am and then activities afterwards. Expected number of children is 600!  We are doing a ppf event, the school will only let us charge no more than $2.00 per face painting!  Hmmm I am  working on a board tonight that will include all $2.00 designs to offer! Well I guess I will put my split cakes to work tomorrow! Butterflies, rainbows, dragons, gators, flowers and flames!

The family fun fest went super yesterday! Anna and I painted our ---'- off! And then I went to the race track, OMG busy busy! I painted for three hours non stop! I do a ppf there, and I charge $5.00 for cheek art and $10 for full faces, almost every thing I did was full face. I picked up four gigs from the race, one is today, one hour from home. But they are paying me my rate and gas fee. The other three are next week Wed and two Thursday, so it was a great night. Here is the picture of the race track painting, I posted it before but I couldn't get it to go bigger. My hubby purchased it at the track last night for me so I can put it into my portfolio. The track took this pic from the tower, looking down, this is how it is at every track painting, tons of kids and watchers. Life is good!

Sounds fun, getting to paint with Anna!  I bet you learn so much from her!   Grin

I'd love to have a better look at the butterfly you're painting in the pic... looks gorgeous!  Smiley

May 22, May 23,  Ren Faire - it is called mayfairen, it is a big one!  I am the only face painter there!  I just finished my back drop for my tent, it is amazing, dragons, fairies and flowers all over it.  Star bursts and twinkle stars galour. I worked so hard on this back drop, I almost cried when I finished it, I can't tell you how many hours I had into it.  I had it up on my tent in the back yard on tuesday, the wind carried it away and tipped it over, I had to re-inforce all the sides and the seams with strips on vynal. and mend the corners where it ripped!   But it is fine now.  I go and sey up for it tomorrow, on Saturday morning I will take some pictures of the final set up to post for viewing.

May 29, May 30, May 31 Ren Faire

three bookings today for June, two birthday parties during the week days and one 4 hour event.
Looking at my scheduale I notice that I do have a Saturday off on.................Oct 2nd!

Sounds beautiful Gina!  Smiley

So far for June I've got my teaching gig the last Saturday of the month, a festival the first Saturday and a private party, and a Vacation Bible School..... eeks on the last one!   Shocked  That could be some massive painting.

I did five vacation bible schools last summer.  I studed for their theme,  three was Africa, one was for Alaska, and one was for the artica.  And non of the children at any of the VBS's wanted the theme designs!  Go figure. Luck had it that the workers in charge ok'd simple designs.  The only thing that kind of frazzled me was, at each VBS, they sent the children to me in between their studies, and I would only have about 10 minutes with each group!  Talk about super fast painting!  I might only be doing one VBS this year.  That will be our church.

Yes, I'm only doing it for my church too.  I wanted to give back to them, so this is my donation to them.  All other churches will need to pay.  Smiley

I am plenty envious of all of you. I have one booking on the calendar so far. Life has been busy, but I need to get so advertising out there. In Chicago, there are lots of other websites to find b4 mine. Aaaagh. The only VBS I did was for my friend's program and I did it gratis.  Undecided

hey ...don't feel bad...the last two events that i've done have been real duds!....the only saving grace was that I didn't pay to be in them....i was told by the one head guy at Saturdays festival that i was the only face painter...i get there and guess what....you guessed it, there was another one and she was doing it for free! Made me so mad...and then to make matters worse, i had hung the bag that my pop up goes in in a tree next to us and someone left me theirs, which wouldn't fit, and they took mine.....! I told that guy he better track it down! Lips Sealed..i don't think it was intentional, but you think they would have noticed all the "extra" room in it since mine is about a foot bigger! Not only did I only make about 30.00 but lost my tent bag as well.....crappy day! :Smiley :Smiley :Smiley :Smiley

Well I finished day one (yesterday) of the Ren Faire!  OMG I had never seen any thing like that before in my life! It was just like a great big giant costume party! There was a guy or girl I don't know which, that was an oger, he or she was as big as my SUV! And the costumes, well people don't spare any expience for them.  My quick costume turned out great!  It's like any thing goes!  I had lots of compliments on it, I was a gypsy.  I had reseached Ren Faires and the prices that the face painters charged!  I may become a full time Ren Faire painter! The day was wonderful, and I stayed busy from 10am to 6pm, came home exhausted and was in bed by 8:30pm! Whew!  I got some amazing pictures. My set up was perfect, it looked just like an art studio. Day two today, just getting ready to start my day. I will post some pics probley tomorrow, I was just too tired last night. Must go get ready to face the day!

I'm sorry to hear it went so crappy Mollie!   Sad  I might have ended up having a crappy day yesterday too if fate hadn't stepped in, because I don't know what else it could have been.  About a month ago, an apartment complex invited me to their Woofstock 2010, said I could set up for free and then charge a PPF for this 4 hour event.

I don't always agree to these type of things, because it's risky, sometimes they pay off and sometimes they don't.  I had to bring my own canopy, table, chairs, etc.  They told me about all the advertising they were doing and I ended up agreeing to do it.

Then at the beginning of this week, out of the blue they call and decide they'll pay me to be there and I'll offer it free to people and they only want me there for 2 hours.  I thank my lucky stars for this turn of events!  Since they're paying me, in my booking form I have the requirement that they provide table, chairs and shelter or overhead shading.

I get out there and the day is hot as all get out, plus it's dead!  A lot of vendors, but no people.  Finally some of the tenants (a very few that is) start meandering around and I get to do some face painting.  Yay!  Because my balloons kept popping.  I don't know if it was the heat or what.  They'd pop and no one would even be touching them.

It ended up being a pretty good day, they loved me and said they wanted to have me back to future events!  Yay!    Grin  Could you have seen me out there in the other scenario?  Lugging my canopy and all in the scorching heat, I would have been a sweaty mess and I doubt I would have had many paying customers.

I'm glad to hear your Ren Faire went so well!  Smiley  I'm really interested in it, because I've wanted to try vending at them too.   Do they let you have exclusivity?  I think I'll start looking around at our local Ren's.  Sounds fun.  Can't wait to see the pics.  Smiley

7:44pm and I made it threw day two of the Ren Faire.  Great news!  One of my face paintings made it on the front page of my local news paper!  A guest at the Ren Faire came back today and stoped to tell me that I was famous! I didn't even know about it!  I am one tired woman, I MEAN DEAD TIRED!  It was npot busy but it was steady all day long!  I made So much money I might just start  being a Ren Faire Painter! I am in amazement.  I took some really great pics yesterday and today.  As soon as I go get a bath and refreshed I will post some of the pics. But right now all I want is a SHOWER!  and ahhhhhhhh get this paint off my face!   Sherry e-mail me off list if you want some info on the Ren Faires and I will tell you how I got into them and so fourth ok. All of them are pretty much the same with there rules and vendor fees, but I will give you the info on what I did.
