I made a hat
« on: March 19, 2010, 11:16:28 PM »

4-hour gig tomorrow - Balloons!  I feel like I haven't done balloons since Last Year.
Planned on practicing during the week, but I just got up to it.  Where is that picture
of a Goldfish here?  And how did I used to make that beautiful heart-bouquet?

So far, all I did was a poodle and a little playing around with a basic hat design.
Ended up with an adorable creature.

Can't start fussing with the camera just now, but I was thinking of Face-Paint-Chat people.  Wanted to show you what I was doing.  So I just scanned the poodle
and drew a picture of the hat.

I've been practicing my balloon repertoire lately too.  For some reason, I just can't master the poodle, but my husband can always do that one well.  I learned a few new ones this week, an alligator, giraffe, elephant and what my daughter calls a witch's hat.

That's real good Sherry.  The poodle isn't hard - you just have to remember to leave plenty of unused-balloon when you blow it up.

I did real well at today's Party.  It was an easy party, and the limited ballooning that I used to do came right back to me.  Beautiful client was more interested in having me Entertain than produce.  So I had time to bop the balloons around a bit.  Even made one doll and some swirlies.

I'm actually inspired - Balloons, such a side thing for me, but I'm now wishing I had another one booked soon.

I do just the basics on balloons! just enough to get me by! Learnt them off from you tube! Yeah for you tube! Ordered a 100 of 10 different colors, so I can use them as a back up for a party! And I always take the birthday child a balloon sirprize! So at yesterdays party I took a monkey on a palm tree with bananas hanging from the tree, and I wrote on the monkey's tail   "HAPPY BIRTHDYA KEVIN FROM YOUR FACE PAINTER" He loved it! he was only 2 and I noticed he carried it around all day! Last week the mom of the party I did wanted balloons too! Well painting 20 kids and 20 adults in 2 hours and doing balloons is a bit much for me! So I didn't tell her that I did balloons on the phone, she had just told me in the conversation she also wanted balloons! So I felt bad and in the morning before I went I made up about 2 dozen, simple one balloon figures, mostly dogs I guess you would say! and I put them in a large bag and took them with me! as I painted a child's face I than gave them a balloon, mom was so happy! she paid me at the end of the gig and gave me a $20.00 tip fordoing the balloons! So all in all it was good!

I usually get my balloons from www.LaRocksMagic.com
My order gets shipped same day if I order before 2pm their time, and is on my doorstep within 48 hours...
Their prices are better than TMyers.... I'm out of state, so I don't pay tax, and orders over $150 come with free shipping... Love 'em...
