My attempt at a Mark Reid Fantasy Cat
« on: March 28, 2010, 04:43:47 PM »

I tried to use some of the techniques I learned this past Friday from Sean Avram's class with one of the Mark Reid's fantasy cats.
Whatcha think?
Any cc would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Kim

Nice, Kim!  I can see the class took your painting to the next level.  Did he go over blending in this class?

I'm not going to give constructive criticism, because these are the type of faces that I'm working on myself.

Thanks for posting!

Thanks Sherry.
He touched a bit on blending in the class.  Should I try to blend a bit more?
I really enjoyed the class.

I have realized that my problem is when someone says "paint whatever."  I always draw a blank.
So, I need to get an arsomal of designs and make a "choice" poster.

No, I liked the blending.

I'm the same when people tell me to paint whatever, I draw a blank.  I even bring along designs I'd like to try and keep them in a folder under the table, just in case.  I still freeze when people say this, because I'm going over in my head what to try and also wondering if they'll like it or be horrified with what I chose.   Tongue

I get that request alote too!  "Just anything" well I too mull around in my mind! "What if they don't like it?" So I guess I just at that time start asking some questions. Do you want just cheek art? Do you want full face? Scary? Princess? Pretty and girly? Tiger? What's your dream for today? Who do you want to be?  And it seems to be that 75 percent will say "I want to be a tiger" Ahh I love tigers, have done so many of them now, I can whip them out rather fast! And what I love about the tiger designs, you can make them in their fav color, or traditional colors, change the lines and the design of the print and they still look great!  This little gal was one of those who just didn't know what she wanted! She sat in my chair and thought and thought! I asked questions? She didn't know, I had her get up and let some one else go before her while she thought about it! She then said  "do what you want to, but a full face please" and I picked the tiger, and she was just so pleased, so the tiger benifits us too!
